Upstream achieve 100% Electric Fleet

As we all know, carbon reduction should be the number one priority when it comes to any net zero plan. If we have any chance in protecting our planet from the devastating effect of climate change, reducing carbon emissions is at the top of the list.

Electrifying our car fleet was one of our carbon reducing targets for 2021. We are proud to announce that we now operate a 100% electric fleet.

An electric fleet is viable for any business and we believe there are good reasons why a strategic switch to fully electric cars could represent the best possible vision of the future.

Government wants petrol out by 2030

The government’s 2030 Petrol and Diesel Ban announced back in November aims to ensure that new cars fuelled purely by petrol or diesel will no longer be sold in the UK by 2030. With an anticipation to drive the nation electric – we are pleased to have achieved this goal in 2021.

And why not? Electric cars can enable a 40% cut in CO2 emissions, so there’s no doubt they have a huge role to play in reducing the overall negative impact.

The wide-scale EV adoption is expected to bring down direct CO2 emissions from company cars across the UK by 80% by 2025, and zero by 2030.

Climate Positive Workforce

We are working hard to reduce our environmental impact across the company, with improvements such as better recycling, no single use plastics, and low energy lighting and heating.

The new cars are just another way that we can contribute to a more sustainable future.

And not to mention, our ongoing partnership with Ecologi where we help fund the world’s best climate crisis solutions. We have already offset a whopping 182.7 tonnes of CO2e through the reforestation of trees and financing carbon reduction projects from around the world.
